Founders Matt and Dean established WEST 51 in 2021 after their enthusiasm for camper vans and the great outdoors led them both on many adventures around the UK.
The pair frequently visit some of the UK’s most popular vacation destinations. Each new experience inspires the custom designs of their self-sustaining, VW T6 camper vans to ensure they are always ready for bigger and better adventures.

“We want to help create new experiences for our customers to enjoy and our custom-built camper vans make that happen.”
Both Matt and Dean agree that Bristol is the ideal location to start your camper van adventure. Head over the Severn bridge to visit the unique beauty spots of Wales. In Southwest Wales, The Gower has many unspoiled beaches and coves to explore, whilst Pembrokeshire boasts one of the best coastlines in the world.
“Snowdonia National Park is so special with breath-taking scenery, deep valleys, and beautiful waterfalls. The views from Mount Snowdon are certainly worth the climb to the summit” says Matt.
Drive your camper inland over to the Brecon Beacons for something a little less intense, with wide-open spaces and vibrant landscapes that create perfect conditions for walking. Novice climbers can attempt to conquer Pen Y Fan, South Wales’ highest peak, or take the family on an adventure across the Four Waterfalls trail. These are just some examples of the idyllic destinations experienced by the pair on their many ventures.
WEST 51 are perfectly situated to explore the South West’s coastal destinations; enjoy a comfortable journey in one of our campers before walking the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, drive a little further to one of Devon’s beautiful beaches and relax around a campfire, have a restful night’s sleep then breakfast with a coffee before hitting the surf at the spectacular beaches of Cornwall, followed by fish and chips at one of the many captivating fishing harbours.
Matt and Dean believe The UK’s National Parks are ideal locations for camper van vacations. The New Forest in Hampshire, Cumbria’s Lake District, Derbyshire’s Peak District, and the vast moorlands of Exmoor & Dartmoor provide a landscape defined by forests, rivers, and Tors for you to explore.

WEST 51 is a tribute to the history of camper conversions, which began in 1951 with one customer’s special wish to equip a VW van as a home.
Westfalia in Wiedenbrück, Germany converted the VW bus and the camper van was born.
More recently, camper vans have become the most popular form of travel for 2021 and continue to be a major trend.
